Shooting - getting ready, on set, what to bring / wear


  • Rucksacks- good example is 200 pounds and has a fridge/silver material lining to keep things cold. Buy the best you can afford for the money you have at the time


  • Footwear- closed toe shoes, no white shoes, doc martens are a good example


  • Good pair of wellies- good example igle (cost around 200 pounds too


  • Scarves and ski gloves- to keep warm


  • Waterproof jacket and trousers (make sure trousers have zip up sides)


  • Thermals-to also keep warm


  • Extra pair of socks- in case yours get sodden and all wet


  • General jacket- to keep warm at the end of the day


  • Head torch-to be able to see in the dark...


  • Fanny pack- to keep things on you and for easy accessibility


  • Waterbottles/reusable cups- sanitation/Albert productions/cutting down paper waste


  • Power banks for phones- for when there are no plug sockets


  • Laptops- to make extra notes on



PER DIEMS- cover expenses for the day

Boxfee- a payment that a production company pays a crew member for the approved and authorized use of their own “kit,”. E.g. Jez said he paid to use his own laptops


Headwear: Make sure to keep head warm

Set Paramedics are on set and usually have sunscreen



WORKING DAY


Hours:

Standard working day- ‘9 to 5’ or ‘8 to 7’

  • 10 + 1h = 11h

  • Or

  • 11 + 1h = 12h

  • 50 hr week

  • 55 hr week


Continuous working day- 9 hour day, 20 minute break

  • 8.40 + 20min = 9h


Semi-continuous working day- 9 and a half hours work, half hour break

  • 9.30 + 30min = 10h



*turnaround- time between your filming days. When you wrap one day to the next filming day. Duration: 11 hours



IMPORTANT NOTICE

*if you see a water bottle on set and filming is about to take place, MOVE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE

Doesn’t matter if it’s named, doesn’t matter if it’s the directors



30-30 RULE

30 minutes before pre-call, 30 minutes after
